I suggest that you receive three (3) estimates from reputable contractors and trades before undertaking any repairs or new construction projects . Furthermore I recommend that you or your builder apply for a building permit for new construction such as a deck, addition and electrical work such as upgrading an electrical service panel.

Do not hire a contractor if he/she is reluctant to apply for a building permit! Remember, a building permit ultimately protects you the consumer. It allows City Inspectors to "Inspect" your Contractor's work and to make sure that all work performed is at least to Building Code Standards. The Ontario Building Code is only the "Minimum" standard, anything less would be Criminal!
